Ski and Apres Ski in La Tania

La Tania is a ski resort nestled beautifully in the Courchevel area of Les Trois Vallees. It was originally developed for the Albertville Olympics of 1992 and is now a top destination for avid skiers. The resort is easily accessible and is only a twenty-five minute drive from Moutiers. It is the perfect place to rent a catered ski chalet and spend some quality time with friends or family.

Overview of the resort

The village centre of the town is traffic free and made up of six apartment blocks, a few hotels, four ski hire shops, a tourist office, newsagent, bakery, supermarket, post office, lift pass office and eight bars and restaurants. If you want excellent views and a great location you should rent a catered ski chalet around the forested area of the resort.

There are three pistes (red, blue and green) that wind down through the forest into the village from the top of the gondola. The blue and green benefit from snow cannons for all season access. There is also a free beginners draglift, which runs throughout the season (Troika).

Food and drink

Even if you are staying in a catered ski chalet fully equipped with a kitchen, you may want to spend some time dining in on of the lovely restaurants.

Le Farcon: This is the town’s most upscale restaurant and in 2006 it was awarded a Michelin star. At Le Farcon you will find exquisite dishes such as Canadian lobster with lemon and green pepper, lamb slowly cooked in a clavisy crust with artichokes and whitefish fillet with turnip ravioli.

Le Ferme: This is the perfect restaurant if you are looking for excellent local cuisine. It offers Fondu Savoyarde, Raclette, Tartiflette and Fondue Bourguignonne.

Hotel Montana: Even if you are not staying at the hotel, they welcome all visitors to dine with them. They serve a very international menu and even have a great valet buffet.

Apres Ski

If you’re looking for a bit of fun before retiring to your catered ski chalet for the evening, you will certainly be impressed with the après ski opportunities available in the resort.

Pub Le Ski Lodge: This is the main bar and social centre of the area. Owner Tim Wall has run it since the building of the resort. They are famous for their Ski Lodge Cocktail, Jaegar bombs and extensive selection of flavoured vodkas. Tuesday is the most popular night to go to Pub Le Ski with bands such as Ska Wars, The Load Hailers, The Cheerleaders and Le Trois Tetes playing from 10:30pm. If you can’t make it on Tuesday, rest assured that there is happy hour everyday from 4pm to 6pm and bands from 5pm on most nights. The pub also has TVs showing all the sports games, including those on ESPN and Pay Per View and some live 3pm Saturday kicks offs as well. Pub Le Ski is definitely the resort’s best après ski location and has a great atmosphere.
